High Speed Rail Initiative Unveiled and TCU Invited to Attend
4/16/2009 President Bob Scardelletti and International Vice President Joel Parker attended the unveiling of President Barack Obama’s High Speed Rail initiative. The administration’s vision is to build a network of high-speed rail corridors across America. “This investment in America’s future and the inclusion of labor in the announcement show the determination of the administration to create a new beginning for high-speed passenger travel across the country,” said Bob Scardelletti.
Ten major corridors were identified for high-speed rail projects as well as improvements in the Northeast Corridor. The projects selected for funding were based on merit and benefit of investment. The ten major corridors are:
• California
• Pacific Northwest
• South Central
• Gulf Coast
• Chicago Hub
• Florida
• Southeast
• Keystone
• Empire
• Northern New England
